How We Styled This Home Office for Under $1,000

How We Styled This Home Office for Under $1,000

Creating your dream home office doesn't have to come with a designer price tag.

A beautiful workspace can make all the difference to your working day, and the good news? You don't need to spend thousands to achieve it.

We recently transformed one of our STILLA Garden Studios into a warm, inviting home office using affordable furniture and décor from some of Australia's favourite retailers.

Our goal was simple: create a space that feels stylish, comfortable and practical, without breaking the budget.

And with a total furniture and styling spend of just $923, we think it's safe to say you can achieve a lot with a little!

A Blank Canvas, Full of Possibilities

One of our favourite things about a STILLA Studio is the freedom to make it your own.

Whether you're dreaming of a productive home office, a creative workspace or somewhere to escape with a good book, your backyard studio can be styled to suit your lifestyle.

For this transformation, we wanted to create a home office that felt less like a traditional workspace and more like an extension of the home.

Think warm timber, soft sage greens, natural textures and a few carefully chosen accessories.

The result? A cosy, considered workspace that makes working from home feel a little more inviting.

Shop the Room: Our Home Office Edit

The secret to styling on a budget is choosing pieces that make an impact without spending more than you need to.

We mixed affordable Kmart finds with a beautiful timber desk from Eureka Furniture, creating a space that feels cohesive without the designer price tag.

Here's everything we used to bring this home office to life.

1. Farmhouse Trestle Desk – $639

Eureka Furniture

The centrepiece of our home office!

We chose this timber trestle desk for its natural finish, simple design and warm farmhouse feel. It adds character to the space while providing plenty of room to work.

2. Jumi Lounge Chair – $145

Kmart

Who says an office chair has to look like an office chair?

We opted for Kmart's Jumi Lounge Chair in a soft green fabric. Its curved shape and timber legs bring a relaxed, contemporary feel to the room.

It's a lovely choice for a workspace where style is just as important as comfort, although we'd recommend an ergonomic chair if you're sitting at your desk for long hours.

3. Paloma Table Lamp – $29

Kmart

Lighting can completely change the feel of a room.

The woven texture of this table lamp adds warmth and softness to the timber desk, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

4. Floral Bloom Canvas – $30

Kmart

A little artwork goes a long way!

We chose this abstract floral canvas for its soft pinks, warm neutrals and earthy tones. It brings colour into the space without overwhelming the room and ties the entire look together.

5. Textured Urn Vase – $17

Kmart

Sometimes it's the smallest details that make the biggest difference.

This neutral textured vase adds a beautiful organic element to the desk and complements the natural timber finishes.

6. Green Stripe Vase – $14

Kmart

To tie in the sage green chair and walls, we added this striped ceramic vase.

Its subtle colour and simple design bring another layer of texture and interest to the desktop.

7. Tall Artificial Olive Tree – $49

Kmart

No room is complete without a little greenery!

An artificial olive tree is an easy way to soften a space and bring a touch of the outdoors inside, without the maintenance.

We paired ours with a cream ceramic pot from Bunnings for an understated, natural look.

Our Top Tips for Styling a Home Office on a Budget

You don't need a huge budget or an interior designer to create a space you love. Here are a few things we kept in mind when styling ours.

Start with one statement piece. For us, it was the timber desk. Choosing a feature piece first makes it easier to build the rest of the room around it.

Stick to a simple colour palette. We worked with soft greens, warm timber and neutral tones to create a cohesive look.

Mix textures. Timber, woven details, ceramics and soft upholstery help add depth and warmth without needing lots of furniture.

Don't overcrowd the space. A few thoughtfully selected pieces can have far more impact than filling every corner.

Make it personal. Your workspace should reflect you! Add artwork, greenery and accessories that make it somewhere you genuinely enjoy spending time.
